The New Lexicon I.

Philosophy of Music Evolution [research group]

PARTICIPANT VALUE

The New Lexicon offers researchers and developers a sustained framework in which to deepen the conceptual, methodological, technical, and public dimensions of their work. Over several months, participants can move beyond the compressed exchange of a conference presentation, review process, or product demonstration and develop projects through presentation, response, testing, revision, and public articulation.

The programme enables participants to:

– clarify the philosophical commitments and models of change implicit in research and development decisions;

– advance papers, methods, tools, datasets, prototypes, systems, and interdisciplinary projects through substantive feedback;

– develop precise vocabularies for presenting, contextualising, and evaluating work;

– test theoretical and technical propositions within an international research community;

– encounter methodologies, disciplines, and forms of knowledge beyond their usual fields;

– identify ethical, historical, institutional, ecological, and political consequences of methods and systems;

– establish intellectual relationships and formulate new trajectories for research, development, publication, collaboration, and public engagement.

This broader contextualisation does not displace technical or disciplinary specificity. It enables participants to understand more clearly how their work participates in, resists, or transforms the conditions around it. The programme’s value lies not in delivering one model of success, but in enabling stronger questions, more deliberate methods, more accountable systems, and more precise communication.
